Run a Meeting Without Talking Too Much
I just love Art Makman's "How to Run a Meeting without Talking Too Much". Organizations, large or small would benefit from efficient and effective meetings. People spend a great amount of productive time in meetings and not getting the job done. The amount of time spent in meetings can be cut in half if only people prepare for the meeting before the meeting. Here is how:
Invite only essential persons to a meeting: irrelevant people have a way of sounding off and wasting time.
Plan, plan and stick to the meeting plan
Make notes and stick to them; Be guided by the task at hand.
Prepare people in advance: send pre-reading materials or an agenda before the meeting.
Stay within your time limits: No one has complained about a short meeting! Aim for short and snappy meetings. Start on time, finish on time.
Make improptu or emergency meetings standing meetings, decisions will be reached real quick!
